IVA® – GAS COLLECTION CYLINDERS
Use gas collection cylinders to obtain your own gas samples for IVA® testing with ORS. Gas collection cylinders are specially designed to collect gases right from the source – your hermetically sealed equipment. The cylinders include two high vacuum valves and are shipped under 10-8 torr to enable the sampling of unpressurized sources.
MATERIAL OUTGASSING STUDIES
ORS has developed a glass ampoule sealing technique that can trap outgassed substances from a variety of organic and inorganic materials. This test provides both a qualitative and quantitative analysis of these outgassed compounds and can be used to plot outgassing over time and at various temperatures, offering information about long-term device aging.
HSHLD® COMBINED DRY GROSS LEAK, AND HELIUM FINE LEAK
HSHLD® testing is able to provide both the FINE and GROSS leak test data in a single test sequence. Devices are typically preconditioned in a pressurized chamber and, after the required conditions are met, the leak rate is measured and recorded.
HELIUM SNIFF TESTING
If you’ve determined that your hermetic device has a leak, then it’s time to precisely locate that leak in order to resolve the root cause. Helium is useful for doing exactly that because the small atoms easily penetrate leak sites on hermetic packages. Helium Sniff Tests can be used on IVA® tested packages and open cavity packages and makes it possible to discriminate between defective feedthroughs from good ones.
FLUORESCENT DYE PENETRANT
Also known as Fluorescent Dye Impregnation, Fluorescent Dye Penetrant can help improve your package sealing process by precisely identifying and mapping leak sites. It’s often used after the Helium Sniff Test to further investigate the area and visualize the leak pathway.
GROSS LEAK HERMETICITY TESTING
A device with a gross leak could theoretically pass the standard Helium fine leak test. Therefore, this test is typically performed after fine leak. Depending on the requirement of the specification being followed, gross leak may be performed by two different methods.
X-RAY INSPECTION
X-Ray Inspection can be an effective, non-destructive inspection tool. This form of interactive analysis provides internal viewing of an assembly’s design, internal components, workmanship and potential latent quality issues.
KRYPTON-85 FINE AND GROSS LEAK TESTING
The Krypton-85 Leak Testing method is a highly sensitive technique used to measure fine and gross leak rates in high-reliability devices. It is the preferred method to characterize small leak rates in critical military components.
ORGANIC MASS SPECTROMETRY
Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) is an analytical method that combines the separative features of gas-chromatography with the identification capabilities of mass spectrometry to identify unknown organics in a sample. It is a natural complement to standard IVA® testing.
